After teh 2 hrs in the rain in chelt waiting for a bus home, the first day of the floods, and tehn having to balg a lift with a random family through 3 hours of traiffic i made it home to play.

The second break kicked in at 1am ish, and dann decided to "lie-down" for a minute - next thing i know its 3am and i am out! oops!!

Pool News!!!

Singles League News

After the terrible week, i managed to hit the other end of the spectrum with a great night on tuesday.
Played 2 matches and needed wins for both my confidence and standing in the table.
Firstly i played Chris Newman, a stalwart of the tewkesbury league, and a tough player.
In the first frame he was very unlucky as he potted the black and one of my yellows in the same shot, but that was the wake up call for me.......from that moment i think i missed 3 balls all night - and won the match 8-3. Two of the frames i lost came from leaving the black over the pocket, with Chris' colours around it, and his abilty to get them all out and leave them on!! Amazing - happy with that result.
Then i played Jon Meadows, currently 2nd in the league and hammering everyone in sight.
How does a 9-2 victory sound?!!??! oh yea, tbh Jon struggled but i didnt have to ask for a second chance, i carried the form from the prior game, and took full advantage of Jons Wobbly cue action.
So the league table lloks like this at the moment:

Josh - 55 pts from 6
JON - 54pts from 7
Me - 51pts from 7
Gary - 45pts from 7
Matt - 44pts from 7
Nelly - 39pts from 6
Chris - 38pts from 6
Al - 28pts from 5
Andy - 21pts from 5
Stu - 16pts from 4

and my remaining games for the 1st half of season are Al and Stu
If i can obtain 19pts ill be extatic but 16 will do!!!

DTD Poker Trader Scheme

Have looked into the trader scheme and applied as sadly my ability overways my bankroll due to university fees et al that i accrued in the 5 yrs at UWE. This is really limiting my poker that i can play and i find myself stuck in a rut where i am not enjoyin the poker as it is against "lesser players" that dont even play the game right.........and at the low tables it can take a life time to amount some profit only for a fish to nick it all back on an crazy draw call!!!!

so yea, gonna do it and see how i go! who knows maybe ill be sponsered this time next year!? if not ill just nick a tshirt from Matty D

Ill keep u informed!!!

Happy Check-Raising!!

Pool and Money.....hmmmmm

This will end up being a slight ramble, of that i am sure, but its the train of thought my mind has been working on for the last few months...........

Pool and Money, Money and Pool - a deadly combination for those that lose but a sweet marriage for those that succeed.

My background in money matches is of creditable record, i mean discounting the crappy £5, £10, first to 3's or my fav "ill play one handed, if i get a one frame headstart" a line i have used to win many a £10 in the pub over the years. Oh yea and winning £10 playin with a footlong witches broom!! What a Halloween night that was!!! Back on point, of Sizeable money matches - i mean £20+, i have never lost. A few £50 wins, 15-7 and 15-9, plus one more sizeable win.

These are not easy matches, nor matches i have set up myself - i tend to shy away from offering the match, i prefer to be the challenged not the challenger.

Obviously i wouldnt play players that i deem too higher than my standard but in all honesty i have the abilty to beat anyone on my day over a consistant length of frames.

Recently (although my bankroll isnt of a great amount) i have been "challenged" to a few money matches and am musing over which one to take, if not all of them?

Problem is i had the money to lose before, and i am wondering is this a credit to my winning???

I have been challenged to:
£100 best of 19 - fancy winning this i really do, tricky player but the long run suits me and i should take it.

£50 best of 19 - vs player i beat 15-9 for £50 last time, again a match i fancy winning and should do

I have recently taken up 9ball and upon pissin off the local joes by battering them in their own tournies one told me i should take up straight pool and play for money - can it be a hustle!?! i dunno but i think i may take him up on that and if i lose then see it as a learning curve
